Litter AB

Breeding is a hard job with a lot of risks and often not a great deal of reward. Several months ago, we let our friend Jim, of City Cat Cattery, use Deuce with his lovely Israeli import girl, Hermione. Hermione is a gorgeous girl, with an amazing head, wide earset, and beautiful refinement to go with an over the top sweet temperament. Hermione gave birth to five gorgeous kittens about 12 hours before Nightfall did, and everything went well for some time. Unfortunately, Hermione began having nutritional and hydration issues and her milk ran out. Jim wasn't in a good position to take care of kittens without the help of a mother cat, so we offered to take them in.

These kittens have lived at our house since three and a half weeks old and will grow up as Practicalcats kittens, with all the health and socialization and fun pictures as expected. The only difference will be that they'll be registered with a Citycat name. The kittens are extremely precocious and have immediately been adopted by Parfait, besides having acquired human slaves to cater to their every need, so will have no lingering impact from their mom's inability to continue nursing them. They also will have a larger assortment of foster moms and uncles to take on socialization duties.
Because they were born between our A and B litters, they've gotten Ab names. And what an amazing litter of kittens! These guys are social, demanding, full of purrs and playfulness and love nothing more than to interact with people. Every single one of them is completely in love with people and they also play amazingly well with other cats. Most of these kittens are probably silver, but we'll determine that as they get a bit older.

This litter has a Coefficient of Inbreeding of 0.390% over 10 generations. COI is important to determine the likelihood of the more frequent surfacing of disease genes and of the syndrome called "inbreeding depression" which produces weaker individuals. A COI of 1% or lower is generally considered ideal.
This litter is PRA N/N. Progressive Retinal Atrophy is a disease that causes early age blindness in cats. Cats can be negative (N/N), carriers (N/rdAc), or affected (rdAc/rdAc). Practicalcats will never breed a litter that could have affected kittens in it.

Kittens that are marked "OPTION" are likely to be reserved, but no final decision has been made. Reservations are taken no earlier than 4 weeks, and kittens that are marked "RESERVED" are no longer available. If for any reason a kitten becomes available again after an initial reservation, it will be re-listed as "AVAILABLE".
If you are interested in one of the available kittens, we will want to get to know you and for you to get to know us. Please read our TERMS & CONDITIONS and contact us.

kitten

Abacus

cinnamon silver mackerel tabby --- MALE -- RESERVED

If there's a person there, Abacus would like to be interacting with them, preferably being held in the arms while he stares adoringly at them, or plays with them, or just fills the room with the sound of his purr. If you're NOT picking him up, he stands and paws demandingly at your leg until you acquiesce to his demands... and he's so cute about it you can't help it.

kitten

Abbey

chestnut silver ticked tabby --- FEMALE -- RESERVED

Abbey would like you to know that no one holds her enough, and she explains this by climbing into your lap and staring at you with big sweet eyes until you acknowledge that you really didn't have anything else you wanted to do today. Then, she plays happily with your shirt, chewing on your fingers, and generally being as ridiculously cute as possible.

kitten

Abbott

chestnut ticked tabby --- MALE -- RESERVED

He's the poser of this group, taking amazing pictures and being wonderfully photogenic, a skill that makes kitten picture taking so much easier. Just as full of love as all the rest of this litter, he greets anyone coming into the room with a demanding welcoming scream, and then likes to attempt to trip you fifteen times while you try to walk inside. He makes up for that with a sweet purr when you cuddle him.

kitten

Abe

chestnut solid --- MALE -- RESERVED

Sometimes, Abe doesn't need to be in your lap... but only sometimes. He likes to explore and play with other kittens, but very little compares to running over to a person and playing with them too. He's a great eater, and a big kitten, and he has a deafening purr that he brings out all the time. Taking pictures of him is hard because most of the time, he wants to run over and love on the people rather than pose.

kitten

Abigail

chestnut mackerel tabby --- FEMALE -- RESERVED

Abigail is an explorer and a lover in equal measures. She likes to climb and play and then settle in for a cuddle when she's done. Just as demanding as the rest, she will joyfully join in the cuddle piles and then prance away to play some more. She's a fantastic kitten, full of joy and purring.
