PracticalCats Ornery Onomatopoeia, "Eek"

CHAMPION (TICA)

Eek had a rough start to the world, born at a meagre 58 grams, but never let that stop her. She’s from our O litter between Helle and Spotlock. She’s got the personality and demandingness of ten Orientals and has completely won Stephanie’s heart despite being her least favourite colour. She’s pausing in her show career to make some kittens and then may come back out and finish off the rest of the finals to become a grand champion. Eek has an amazing ear set, a fantastic profile, and green, green eyes to die for.
Eek is a black Oriental shorthair in all registries in the world.

Synergy Rana

Triple Grand Champion, Regional Winner (TICA)

Rana was our first dip into the longhair. She decided that she did not want to become a mother, but we enjoyed showing her and she definitely kept our boys entertained.
Rana is a blue lynx point Balinese in most cat registries in the world and a blue lynx point Oriental longhair in some North American registries that limit ancestry of Siamese/Balinese cats to only pointed cats of specific colours.

PracticalCats Kanata Sylph, "Princess"

Champion (CCA) --- Quadruple Grand Champion, Regional Winner (TICA)

Our litter K, the sesquicentennial kittens, born on Canada day the 150 anniversary of the country, was absolute agony for us as breeders to watch grow up -- so many beautiful kittens, all with great temperaments, and we were hoping for the magical combination of a PRA clear girl who also carried cinnamon. As the kittens were growing up, our eye was drawn time and time again to the elegant, refined seal point girl with the darkest blue eyes... and she was the only PRA clear cinnamon carrying girl in the litter. She’s matured into the promise she had as a kitten, with eye colour to die for, and alas for all of us, a personality very much like her Great-Aunt Hater, earning her the nickname Princess. It’s not that she has to rule the world, it’s just that she’s so good at it.
Sylph is a seal point Siamese in most cat registries in the world and a seal point Oriental shorthair in some North American registries that limit ancestry of Siamese/Balinese cats to only pointed cats of specific colours.

portrait

PracticalCats Idiosyncrasy, "Sync"

Supreme Master Grand Champion, Canadian Regional Winner (CCA) --- Supreme Grand Champion, Regional Winner (TICA)

Sync is our keeper girl from our I litter, and proof yet again that Deuce replicates himself in all of his kittens -- but Sync has an even better earset, along with her father's length, her mother's amazing profile, and wonderful green eyes. She's also sweet as pie, full of love and purring, and in love with people. Deuce was our very first grand champion, so it’s fitting that his clone is our very first homebred grand champion, and our first champion regional winner. Sync has matured amazingly, and is absolutely the type of cat we’d like to make more and more of in the future — beautiful and social.
Sync is a chestnut silver ticked tabby Oriental shorthair in all registries. She is heterozygous agouti and carries pointed and cinnamon.

Practicalcats Doughtybrows, "Brows"

Champion

Practicalcats Doughtybrows tried to steal the ‘mother of the year’ award from her own mother, Flare. She was a dutiful mother to her three kittens (the L litter, “Literals”) , as well as doing 90% of the work for her co-mother, Fluffy’s six kittens. Her L son, Practicalcats Literal Flynn, is a phenomenal show cat with two Canadian National Wins already. Brows is enjoying the retiree life and has taught her new minion to cater to her every whim.

portrait

PracticalCats Firefrorefiddle, "Frost"

Champion, Canadian National Winner (Kitten class) (CCA) --- Champion (TICA)

Flare and Balance's first litter was born in July of 2016, and did not contain what we had hoped for -- a PRA clear boy. We repeated the litter that winter, and we got everything we could have hoped for and more in one gorgeous lavender boy. Frost has his mother's earset, fantastic length of body and tail, and is a nice moderate Oriental boy. He finished the 2017 - 2018 show season as our very first home bred national winner — 7th best kitten in Canada, and is starting his show career as an adult… as well as his working stud duties. We’re looking forward to meeting his children!
Frost is a lavender/lilac solid in all registries, and carries cinnamon and pointed/Siamese

Savuti Flare of PracticalCats

Supreme Master Grand Champion, CNW (Kittern and Champion classes), Double Crown (CCA) --- Supreme Champion Alter, Regional Winner (TICA)

From the moment we met Flare, we knew she was special. With her flashy colouring and sweet but demanding personality, she’s won over judges and spectators alike at the shows. In one show year, from September to May, she blazed her way to fourth best kitten nationally, and then switched over and made it to ninth best champion nationally, also winning the top titles available from the CCA and a coveted double crown (two national wins). She had two litters of stunning kittens, several of whom have taken to the show ring, either as alters or as champions. Now she helps us as Nanny Flare, every kitten's surrogate mother even into their adulthood, because she LOVES kittens, irrespective of whose they are. She's also come back as an alter to enjoy the limelights again.
From the esteemed Savuti cattery in Michigan, Flare is a seal tortie point colourpoint shorthair in CCA and CFA, and seal tortie point Siamese in TICA, GCCF and FIFE

Bestcats Brilliant Balance

Champion

We have imported a number of cats from Europe and the US, and they’re all amazing, but none of them are as amazing as Balance. It’s hard to wrap up in words exactly how fantastic this cat is, but I’ll do my best. He is exceptionally people oriented and reaches out with his very very long legs to hug his friends. He’s got a fantastic head, with an extreme ear set, and a very, very, very long body… and even more importantly, he has passed that onto his kittens, helping to correct too high ear sets across the board. His kittens are to die for, the perfect combination of sweet and well structured, and will be an important part of our breeding program for the future, with his daughters Brows, Hellebore and his son Frost staying with us.
After five litters with us and more with other breeders, just shy of his third birthday, Balance has been neutered and started his next role in life -- doting uncle to his offspring, show alter, and beloved pet.
Space Monkey is a chestnut solid (havana in GCCF) Oriental shorthair in all registries

SiamJewels Doppelgänger

Double Grand Champion

Deuce was brought to the CNE as a kitten to show to another breeder and we ended up taking him home instead. He’s an amazing cat, with a delicate structure and refinement so hard to find in males, and a coat that’s nearly painted on. As he became quite intolerant of other males, his show career was shorter than we would have liked, but he is still our first Grand Champion. Most importantly, he nearly cloned himself in his kittens, making a small army of Deucelets around.
He now lives with his new family along with his sweetheart Harley.
Deuce is a chestnut silver ticked tabby Oriental shorthair in all registries.

Ulthar Cassiopeia

Champion

Cassie was a gift from the universe, the ability to add our beloved Youngsmile's bloodline into our household. She had one litter with Carrot, from which we've kept an outstanding ebony patched tabby girl, Practicalcats Jellicle Redicicle..
Cassie is an ebony/black silver spotted tabby in all registries.

portrait

CityCat Captain Carrot

Champion, Canadian Nationa Winner (Kitten Class)

Carrot fathered the G, J, L, and M litters, as well as being one of our absolute favourite cats. Extremely social, absolutely in love with people, he'll be taking a part of our heart with him when he goes off to his new home. Kim, Nightfall's owner, fell just as much in love with him over a year ago at a cat show, and has been patiently waiting for non-stop Carrot snuggles.
Carrot is a red silver mackerel tabby Oriental shorthair in all registries.

portrait

JustOriamese Treasure

Champion

Trouble is the mother of our I litter, bringing three of the most adorable kittens ever into the world, including Practicalcats Idiosyncrasy. Unfortunately, after kittening, she has had some recurrent issues with ear infections, and it was determined that it was better for her to be spayed. She's an amazing cat, and we're so happy to have her daughter to carry on with..
Trouble is a cinnamon silver spotted tabby Oriental shorthair in all registries.

portrait

SiamJewels Mr Mistoffelees

Champion

Mister is a beautiful, petite blue point girl. She is packed to the gills with personality (and by personality I mean ‘demandingness’) and very, very vocal in her demands. Well known among the show scene as ‘the cat who escaped from the judging ring at Whitby’, she had a brief show career and settled into motherhood, having her first litter at SiamJewels. Her litter with us at Practicalcats, sired by Balance, included a stunning number of amazing cats, now scattered over two continents.
Mister found a fantastic home locally, and gets to enjoy sleeping in bed and snuggling with her two new cat friends.
Mister is a blue point Oriental shorthair in the CCA and CFA, and blue point Siamese in TICA, GCCF, and FIFE.

portrait

JustOriamese Harley Queen

Champion

Stephanie has always, always had a thing for bicolours, and would fill the world with bicolour kittens if possible. Harley made that distinctly more likely.
Harley grew up to be a lovely girl, with a fantastic profile, nice eye colour, and a really interesting smoked pattern. She is extremely affectionate and full of mischief, constantly getting herself locked in cabinets or sneaking her way into the basement where she doesn’t belong. In fact, she prides herself on always being where she doesn’t belong. She particularly enjoys being affectionate while people are trying to do other things. Tolerant of dogs and other cats, she now enjoys her retired life together with her mate Deuce, tyrannizing a new set of minions devoted to serving them alone.
Harley is an ebony smoke with white Oriental shorthair in all registries.

Practicalcats Coffeee Spoons

We were pretty sure that we'd only have one litter with Spoony, keep a PRA clear daughter, and then retire her and find her a nice home. Spoony decided that wasn't the right order of things. In December of 2016, a lovely couple and their two children came to visit. They were on our waiting list for our next litter, but something magical happened. Spoony spent the entire visit playing with their kids, following them around, interacting with them, and it was obvious she was in love. It was no real surprise a little bit later when they said that they'd like to take home Spoony when she was done breeding... and two of her kittens. She goes home with Gumbo and Kiki in October of 2017.
Spoony is a seal point with white Oriental shorthair in the CCA, CFA and GCCF, a seal point with white Siamese in TICA and now FIFe (FIFE removed the Seychellois breed as of January 2016)

portrait

PracticalCats Hellebore, "Helle"

Champion

Cassie was a gift from the universe, the ability to add our beloved Youngsmile's bloodline into our household. She had one litter with Taffy, from which we've kept an outstanding ebony patched tabby girl, Practicalcats Jellicle Redicicle..
Cassie is an ebony/black silver spotted tabby in all registries.

portrait

JustOriamese Killer Queen of PracticalCats, "Taffy"

This ridiculous calico girl caught our eye the minute her breeder posted pictures of her, and it should be immediately obvious why. She is beyond flashy with her two sided face. She's loud and demanding and full of affection, as we've come to expect from JustOriamese kittens. We're really excited to be able to add more red girls to our cattery, and we love her sturdy body and large size, which our cats tend to lack. Besides her stunning colour, she's got a lovely profile, a moderate ear set and lovely Oriental shaped eyes.
Taffy is a chestnut calico Oriental shorthair in all registries. She carries cinnamon and dilute.

Permes Cayenne of Practicalcats

Cinnamon is a colour that we absolutely love, and finding cinnamons that are unrelated to our cats, in good health, and with a good structure is so challenging! Thankfully, Permes Cattery in Seattle, WA, USA came to the rescue and sent us a lovely, large cinnamon solid girl to enrich our cinnamon program. Cayenne has a great earset, a lovely long body and tail, and a heart warming personality, playful, interactive, and a lot of fun.
Cayenne is a cinnamon solid Oriental shorthair in all registries, and carries pointed.

portrait

Classicoris Noble Nightfall

Champion

Nightfall is an absolutely drop dead gorgeous cat, a blue classic tabby with a fantastic pattern. She got pregnant with our B litter from Deuce, but had a single kitten, Practicalcats Black Jettison. She took very, very poorly to motherhood and made it exceptionally clear that she did not wish to be a breeding cat. She was spayed and went off to live in the most amazing home where she is doted on and beloved as she deserves.
Nightfall is a blue classic tabby Oriental shorthair in all registries.

portrait

Bestcats Crystal Camouflage

Camouflage feels like a cat who just passed briefly through our lives on the way to the place he belonged. He came to us from Bestcats cattery from Germany, along with Balance and Nightfall. A beautiful cat with the most amazing earset and expression, he was fantastic with other cats but quite shy with people. He had one litter with us, which gave us Spoony, and then retired to live with a good friend of Stephanie's, who has won him over and now he's full of purrs and love and screaming demands for chicken.
Camouflage is a seal lynx point with white Oriental shorthair in the CCA, CFA and GCCF, a seal lynx point with white Siamese in TICA and now FIFe (FIFE removed the Seychellois breed as of January 2016)

portrait

SiamJewels Parfait

Parfait was the mother of our first and third litters, and for that we will always be grateful. She's the littermate of SiamJewels Jellylorum, our beloved Hater, and gave us Practicalcats Coffee Spoons. She's retired with another Oriental boy who needed a buddy, and is well beloved by her people.
Parfait is a chocolate point Oriental shorthair in the CCA and CFA, a chocolate point Siamese in TICA, GCCF and FIFe
