Here come the Nimbles!
There are rules in cat breeding that are inviolate. What colours you have, no one wants, and what colours people (including yourself) want, you will not have. These kittens are pretty much the physical incarnation of that rule. Frost is, of course, from our beloved Flare/Balance pairings, and our first home-bred stud, as well as a national winning kitten and international champion. Taffy is from JustOriamese, and is one of the most remarkably patterned and coloured cats we’ve ever seen. We hoped for some super flashy cats like Taffy, and maybe a ton of cinnamon. We got a whole crew of chocolates, which everyone desperately wanted a year ago (and Balance never once made in our household), and a smatter of dilute cinnamon... no flashy.
Taffy is a good mom, borderlining on dairy cow, and the kittens are growing up well. We have two boys and four girls. The boys are a red “mackerel tabby” (due to a fascinating quirk of genetics, red cats always show their innate tabby pattern even if, as in this case, they are not genetically tabbies) and a fawn solid. The girls are two chocolate solids, a chocolate bicolour, and a fawn solid. Even if they aren’t the colours we secretly desired, the babies are growing up beautifully, with what appear to be great ear sets and greater profiles, and we’re thrilled with them.
At present, all kittens are in option for potential breeding or showing homes (including ours), but there may be one left available.
